How to Handle PII
Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is any representation of information that permits an individual's identity to whom the information applies to be reasonably inferred by either direct or indirect means.
GlobalLink Web utilizes the web browser's APIs and functions according to the browser's conventions. The Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council defines standards for processing payments online that use these same browser conventions to protect payment card processes from third parties. Therefore, payment card data will never be captured by GlobalLink Web so long as the website processes online transactions following PCI standards.
For other instances of PII that do not have inherent protection via the browser, GlobalLink Web will capture any text present in the DOM, including text hidden with CSS. Any PII, such as a name or address, should be flagged as non-translatable with an HTML class. GlobalLink Web will not capture content labeled with the "GlobalLinkNoTx" class.
Excluded content will never leave the user's browser.
